About CRPF

The Central Reserve Police Force was created as Crown Representative's Police on 27th July 1939. It was transformed into the Central Reserve Police Force on the promulgation of the CRPF Act on 28th December 1949. It has been in existence for more than 82 glorious years. The Force has grown into a big organization with 246 Bns (including 203 executive Bns,05 VIP Security Bns and 6 Mahila Bns, 15 RAF Bns, 10 CoBRA Bns, 05 Signal Bns and 01 Special Duty Group, 01 Parliament Duty Group Special Duty Group, 01 Parliament Duty Group), 43 Group Centres, 22 Training Institutions, 03 CWS, 07 AWS 03 MWS/SWS Hospitals with 100 beds 18 composite hospitals of 50 beds and 06 Field hospitals.

Mission

The role of Central Reserve Police Force Central Reserve Police Force shall help the government to maintain Rule of Law, Public Order and Internal Security efficiently and effectively as well as to ensure the protection of national Integrity and promote Social Harmony and Development by insuring the supremacy of the Constitution.

Mission

The mission of the Central Reserve Police Force shall be to help the government to sustain Rule of Law, Public Order and Internal Security effectively and efficiently as well as to ensure the protection of national Integrity and promote Social Harmony and Development by adhering to the supremacy of the Constitution.

What's the exact form of CRPF?

Broad duties being performed by the CRPF include:

  • Crowd control
  • Riot control
  • Counter Militancy / Insurgency operations.
  • The treatment of Left Wing Extremism
  • General coordination of large-scale security arrangement specially with regard to elections in areas that are prone to disturbance.
  • Fighting enemy in the event of War.
  • Participating in UN Peace Keeping Mission as per Govt. guidelines.
  • Rescue and Relief operations at the time when there are Natural Calamities and disasters.

Organizational Set-up of the Force

The Force Hqrs of Central Reserve Police Force is located in Block No. 1, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The Director is in charge of the CGO Complex. General and is supported by the 3 Addl. Directors General , 9 Inspectors General of Police, a Financial Adviser and Director (Medical). The structure is as follows :

Directorate General

Administration

Administration Directorate Administration Directorate is functioning under the supervision that of lG (Adm). He is assisted with the help of DIG (Adm) & DIG (Welfare).

Personnel

The Personnel Directorate is functioning under the overall supervision of lG (Pers). He is assisted by DIG (Pers), DIG (CR & Vig), DIG (Org), DIG (Estt) and Comdt(Estt).

Training

The Training Directorate is functioning under the direction from IG(Training). He is assisted by DIG (Training-l), DIG (Training-ll) and DIG(Sports).

Operations

The Operations Directorate is functioning under the supervision from IG (OPS). He is assisted by DIG (OPS-I) as well as DIG (OPS-II).

Provisioning

The Provisioning Directorate is functioning under the overall supervision from IG (Provisioning). He is supported through DIG (Prov) (Mod & Ord), DIG (Mod & ord), DIG(MT), Comdt. (Mod) and Asstt. Director (Prov).

Communication

IG(Communication) is responsible for Communications is the IG responsible Communication Dte. He is assisted by DIG (Eqpt ), DIG (Tech) and DIG (IT) .

Intelligence

The Intelligence Directorate is functioning under the overall supervision of IG (Intelligence). He is assisted by DIG (MAC),Commandant(Int) and PRO.

Establishment

The Establishment branch is functioning under the direct supervision by IG(Estt.). The IG(Estt.) is supported with the help of DIG(Law) as well as DIG (Rectt).

Finance

The Finance Branch and Pay is working within the direct Supervision of FA. The Finance Branch is assist by Dy.FA.

Medical

The Medical Branch is functioning under the supervision of IG/ Director (Medical). This is supported by two Dy. Director (Medical).

The Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF) is India's largest Central Armed Police Force. It is under the aegis that is the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India. The CRPF's primary role lies in assisting the State/Union Territories in police operations to maintain peace and order as well as combat insurgency. It was established by virtue of being the Crown Representative's Police on 27 July 1939. Following Indian Independence, it became an official part of the Central Reserve Police Force on adoption of the CRPF Act on 28 December 1949.
